Check out these few pictures. Nice huh? A gorgeous woman on the beach just happens to be the theme of many of the reviews I write.

We’ve even had plenty of reviews of the DVDs by Harumi Nemoto and Yoko Matsugane. Chloe Vevrier’s DVDs have also appeared on our pages though not recently.

But ‘girls on the beach’ has long been a topic of interest, or a subject of desire, not only to me, but also to most of you who are reading this column. The bikini culture touches the fashion industry, the print media, tourism, television (Baywatch, for example), the internet, DVD’s, and of course - music.

Long ago, back in 1964,The Beach Boys’ Brian Wilson penned a dreamy song which was called Girls on the Beach. It was released on an album called All Summer Long. From the lyrics:-

On the beach you’ll find them there
In the sun and salty air
The girls on the beach
Are all within reach
If you know what to do

The sun in her hair
The warmth of the air
On a summer day

The girls on the beach
Are all within reach
And one waits there for you

One thing is sure. A Chloe Vevrier or a Rio Natsume are not within our reach. However it is not impossibility that a few of us might luck out and have an opportunity to see Chloe or Rio on a beach or by a pool at a resort, or at the DVD equivalent of a book signing; it would likely be a fortuitous or an accidental occurence for us. So we won’t count on it.

But through the wonders of modern technology - we can watch such a woman, in the comforts of our home, whenever we choose.

Our featured double review to close out the old year and ring in the new year is the just released pair of DVD’s from Rio Natsume. The titles are Milk T and Lemon T. Both were shot at an exotic tropical resort in Cebu in the Philippines. How fortunate for Rio, the lucky lassie gets paid to look good and have fun while at a resort. Lucky us as well, as we get to enjoy the finished products.

Rather than walk you through two DVDs chapter by chapter or scene by scene, I’ll let the images speak for themselves. This is a newer, more mature Rio Natsume. Not only is her body even more voluptuous than ever; but she exudes confidence in a way not seen before.

She’s no longer under the impression that she must smile on cue. And what’s more - Rio is now much better at exuding ’sultry’. She’s no longer looking like a young woman doing her utmost but failing to come off as an older woman.

Rio Natsume looks much curvier as well. Her bust is bigger, and her over-all look is that she’s much sexier. And the DVDs do their utmost to convey this new and improved Rio.

Each of the DVDs has a full compliment of the obligatory scenes which we usually find in the idol genre. Bikinis, baths, showers, pool-side, and bedroom posing are found in each. And let’s not forget the scene in a derelict builiding which seems to pop up regularly in every idol DVD I see.

In Lemon T - Rio gives us an extended jiggle and bounce sequence that starts with a large exercise ball, moves on to a pogo stick, and concludes with Rio looking great while jumping rope.

While the genre has its own built-in limitations - for example - how many different ways can you show a girl on the beach, or showering, or slowly disrobing. There’s not a lot of room for experimentation, or new styles never before seen.

So you try to compose a scene with the proper pacing, angles, and light. You need just the right mix of closeups and full body shots. And your camera must be in motion at times - pans, zooms, pull-backs - and you have to vary the speed of these movements.

Then the editing comes into play - as my former partner in AoV, Al-The-Editor used to say:

Do they decide what they want to show you first, then find music that fits the scene. Or do they find music they like and then try and match the various scenes to it?

Yeah, you just don’t find the models, point the cameras at them, and come away with a decent video. You do get a video alright, but is it any good?

The resort isn’t named [Ed.- we’ve since come to know that this DVD was shot at the JWB Hotel in Maribago, Cebu Island, The Philippines], but it was luxurious with richly appointed rooms in every scene. The bath scene in Lemon T has Rio in a bikini and she later removes the top and her hands attempt to cover her breasts. They do cover the nipples, but most of her boobs are exposed. As the scene closes, Rio turns away from us and lifts her arms above her head. It appears as if her bathtub was in full view of much of the hotel. Who know who got an eyeful?

Lemon T was beautifully shot. There’s much of Rio on display; but the DVD isn’t without some flaws. The scenes are often too long. And the music is mostly soft and very slowly paced. And while Rio looks quite sexy as well as curvy, it’s almost as if the video was too leisurely and slow. You don’t mind watching her exquisite body but you may wish for more scenes and some at a upbeat tempo.

Lemon T closes with one of those as Rio is in the pool and we see her with both above water and below the surface cameras.

The companion DVD is called Milk T and has the same production values. This means beautifully appointed hotel rooms, gorgeous bikinis; and with Rio as dedicated as can be to show off most of her body in a manner that can only be called tastefully done.

There’s none of that cheap near nudity of a Rin Aoki. None of those near costumes made of shells and feathers or leather that we often see adorning Megumi Kagurazaka. Unlike Yoko Matsugane, who could wear anything at all and look marvelous but has worn some over-styled and ridiculous bikinis, darling Rio sticks to basic bikinis that look expensive but that fit her body perfectly.

This one has two bath scenes - in one Rio removes her top and covers her voluminous bosom with her hands. The other is a mud bath plus the out-of-necessity rinsing off.

The bedroom scene has Rio in a black bra and panties set. While it is another of those slow-paced scenes, it gets a mention as Rio shows off her magnificent bust throughout. Whether by directorial design, or her own instincts; she’s always leaning in to the camera, bosom first. Once again, you’ll admire the effect of a properly fitting bra.

There’s a ”funny scene” that I must describe. Rio is by the beach - we hear the ocean sounds. She’s wearing a pale beige bikini trimmed in red and yellow. She’s slowly wrapped in a roll of toilet paper. Then we see a toy water cannon brought into play. The paper is soon soaked and unable to support its own weight. Literally, they shot the paper off her body with water. We can see Rio laughing, but we don’t hear her. But the music was slow and dreamy and nothing at all to do with the scene. A total mismatch.

Nipples next in a shower scene. They’re covered of course by the slip that Rio wears to the shower. Real or fake - we won’t be able to answer that for you. But here is a shot of the fakes from Zatoichi’s site.

Still, either way you take them as real or fakes, the scene works fine. Rio, looking fabulous in a soaked to the skin slip, makes the scene very erotic as there’s nothing fake about the size of her boobs.

A Black Mesh bikini follows and then a white lace bra and panties set. Rio is really putting it all out there for you to gaze at in wonderment. Rio is wearing a bit of make up and she ends up riding a wooden rocking horse in the bra and panties. The music is a spanish-style guitar. It didn’t quite fit.

The mud scene begins and ends with a rich blue bikini. I think this scene had a lot of promise but basically failed. What is the point of covering up a body as beautiful as this? Mud isn’t exactly a see through substance.

There’s still a lot more to come - another pool scene, another shower scene, and a massage. One thrill after another…! Plus even more in the bonus section in each disk, including pool and ocean scenes.

I recently read a comment about bikini idol videos. The author said he had no interest in watching them. He could see all the bikinis he wanted at the beach. He is certainly entitled to that opinion - but in my view a look at either of these two videos might change his mind.

Kudos to the director and production team from Air Control. And thanks to Rio Natsume. She’s bustier than ever along with a more womanly overall appearance. These are easily the MOST revealing looks at Rio, and easily her best work.She’s never been asked to show of this much flesh before; and she has hit a pair of home runs with these DVDs.

I’ll bring each in at Four point five - and the half point away from perfection is mostly to do with the pacing and music chosen. Don’t miss either.
