The Skinny: There’s no escaping it - I’m hooked on Sayaka Ando. From For-side, these DVD’s entitled NIGHT and DAY are simply day-licious. She’s cute, she’s sassy, and she’s quite sexy - but best of all, Sayaka will show you how much she’s enjoying life. It’s her spirit that is her really most attractive feature. After looking at the images see if you don’t agree.

In 1932 American songwriter Cole Porter penned a memorable song called Night and Day. This song became an American standard meaning it has passed the test of time, and has been recorded by a multitude of artists from Frank Sinatra and Ella Fitzgerald to Bette Midler and U2. From the lyrics -

Night and day
You are the one
Only you beneath the moon
And under the sun

 

Whether near to me or far
Its no matter, baby, where you are
I think of you
Night and day

 

While I doubt that Sayaka Ando is familiar with this song, it is certain apt for these DVDs. I think Sayaka is that memorable. What’s more she must be very talented as well because in the opening credits for each DVD, Sayaka is listed as Planner as well as Actress. Likely it was her idea for these two en-twinned DVDs. The two DVD’s were released separately but there’s no doubt that they were intended to be a matched set. And if you are lucky enough to own both or be able to watch them sequentially, you are indeed fortunate.

 

Day is a quintessential gravure idol DVD. It begins with Sayaka making her way to the beach. She carries a large sack and has a small digital camera as well as a Polaroid camera which she will employ throughout the video. Following the beach there are scenes of glamor posing at the pool, shopping for clothes and food, a segment of Sayaka modeling the new underwear she bought on the shopping tour.

Then things get exciting - Sayaka goes rock climbing or should I say wall climbing. Yes, she’s inside of a harness so she can’t fall, but she still has to pull herself up the wall by using the small hand-grips and foot-grips on her own. Following this, she models a superb faux-zebra-skin bikini. Then goes for a hike up-country. Wearing Adidas shoes, shorts, a white top, and a baseball hat that says Different Day Same Bullshit, she looks great. Sayaka will follow a trail and then find an entrance to a cave. Our model then follows the trail down to a cleft in the rocks where the sea flows in.

Care for another beach scene? You got It! In fact you get two in a row. First, a straightforward beach scene as we allow Sayaka to lead us as she plays by the sea and also takes photos. Then another scene at the shore which is really an interview. It’s late afternoon. Sayaka begins the interview by writing a question in the sand. Then she walks and talks before finally sitting down. The sun set is behind her and while I didn’t understand much more than a few words of what she said - she looks wonderful.

That concludes the regular chapters. As the credits roll we will get to see some of Sayaka’s digital photos and some of the Polaroids. Then about 10 minutes of behind the scenes and making of footage.

As night and day are different in our lives, Sayaka’s DVD Night is a departure from her work in Day. Now let’s go out for the evening with Sayaka Ando in NIGHT.

However, Night begins as did Day with Sayaka taking photos on the beach, only it is late afternoon, and sunset approaches. But once evening begins we meet a new and different Sayaka. She dressed to nines with a bold pink dress which she wears to a solo dinner at an elegant supper club.

After dinner it’s back to work for a glamorous posing session at the hotel’s pool. Sayaka wears a glittering silver bikini. Following this and a change of clothes, we are off to a pool hall where Sayaka plays 9-ball. She’s not too good but she looks great with a deeply cut v-necked dress, huge sparkling, bejeweled hoop earrings, and her hair pulled up and back.

So much for the that night’s activities. Sayaka returns to her room and heads for the shower. Then we watch as this gravure idol washes a tee-shirt in the bathroom sink. OK, that scene won’t do much for you. In fact it seemed out of place as it was immediately followed by a scene called Sayaka’s Bar. First she poses for us in a sexy outfit, then she’ll mix a long tall drink for us.

After work, we join Sayaka back at the hotel room. She’ll review her pictures, sign some Polaroids, take more pictures, then she goes hard for the junk food - the ice cream, Frito’s, and some other chips that we saw her purchase in the shopping expedition we watched in DAY. This is followed by a seductive bedroom scene where Sayaka wears some gorgeous lingerie.

The next day late in the afternoon, we are treated to watching Sayaka pose in a multi-hued but basically orange bikini, followed by a wonderful sunset dinner at a restaurant overlooking the beach.

After the dinner Sayaka goes back to work in the orange bikini for a few minutes more of posing. Just marvelous is my comment. Then Sayaka appears in a costume which can best be described as nouveau belly dancer.

The last chapter of the main video is a lengthy walk on the beach combined with an interview. Sayaka speaks to us at great length and in the end gives us a heartfelt “Arigato” or thank you. Like DAY, NIGHT includes a review of Sayaka’s photos and Polaroids as the credits roll plus about 10 minutes making of and behind the scenes segments.

Combined Summary: These two DVD’s will provide you with a delightful viewing experience. Sayaka Ando is warm, inviting, funny, and is simply beautiful to watch. You might think she takes too many photos of herself in these videos but that is the theme of the DVDs. In fact, the photos are interwoven into the flow; becoming the unifying element. Sayaka will use the same theme music in both DVDs but the overall musical content is different in the respective DVDs.

As far as the visuals go - these DVDs will provide you with all you hope for in gravure. They are very special and are highly recommended. I like them so well that I will rank Day at four point two five and Night at four point five. The quarter point difference is based on the shopping scenes in Day being a tad too long.
